Alocasia frydek, also known as Alocasia ‘Frydek’ or the African Mask plant, is a popular hybrid selection of elephant’s ear prized for its striking appearance. Native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, this plant has gained popularity among indoor plant enthusiasts worldwide, including in New Zealand.

Alocasia frydek ‘ is a hybrid selection of elephant’s ear that features dark, velvety-green, heart-shaped leaves plant with contrasting white veins. Will occasionally flower and produce a typical aroid-type inflorescence with a light green spathe surrounding a creamy white, spike-like spadix.

Light Requirements: Medium to bright indirect sunlight. Humidity Needs: Moderate to high, 70% and above is ideal. Soil Preference: A well-draining potting mix is ideal. 20% perlite and standard potting mix is recommended.
