About Calathea Rattle Snake
Rattlesnake Plant is a species of tropical plant that belongs to the Marantaceae family. It is native to the rainforests of Brazil and is known for its attractive, patterned leaves and its ability to purify the air.
The Rattlesnake Plant has long, slender leaves that are marked with wavy lines of dark green, light green, and silver. The underside of the leaves is a rich burgundy color. The leaves are held upright on long stems that grow from a central clump. The plant can grow up to two feet tall and wide, making it an excellent choice for a floor or tabletop display.
One of the most striking features of the Rattlesnake Plant is its ability to move its leaves in response to changes in light. During the day, the leaves are flat and horizontal, but at night, they fold upward, creating a more compact profile. This movement is called nyctinasty and is thought to help the plant conserve moisture and protect itself from insects.
Another unique characteristic of the Rattlesnake Plant is its ability to purify the air. Like many tropical plants, it is highly effective at removing toxins from the air, including formaldehyde, benzene, and xylene. This makes it an excellent choice for homes and offices where air quality may be a concern.
